A Voice for Choice in Detroit

By Moneak Parker, Executive Director

Detroit Voice for School Choice

Over 250 families participated in Detroit Voice for School Choice National School Choice Celebration at Old Redford Academy.

I discussed the mission of the organization and the importance of school choice. Then I briefed the parents on the history of school choice and National School Choice Week.

Parents received information on the organizations monthly parent workshops and their Saturday Leadership Training. Parents were briefed on the My Child Matters Campaign launched in late October.

Old Redford Academy students K-5 performed the National School Choice dance routine, speeches, and poems.

Detroit Voice for School Choice responsibility is to educate, organize and mobilize charter school parents. I want to ensure that parents are given the necessary tools and resources to become the best advocate for their children. There is definitely a need for our organization. Parents are excited and becoming the driving force behind DVSC.
